Basseterre, St. Kitts (WINN) -The number of finalists for the Sugar Mas 49 Senior Calypso Monarch show on December 29, has now increased from 15 to 20 finalists.
According to a release disseminated by the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Committee, an error was made in the tabulation of the scores by the auditors.
The release from the Carnival Committee states:
“The Chartered Certified Accountant Firm, Maitland Maitland & Associates (MMA) were tasked with tabulating the scores of the panel of judges for the 37 Calypsonians who participated in the Senior Calypso Monarch Quarter Finals held on December, 12 and 13.
On Monday, December 14, the Chair of the SKNNCC, Shannon Hawley was notified by Franklin Maitland, Managing Partner of Maitland Maitland & Associates (MMA), that a systematic error was committed by the Auditors. The score for one of the categories “Lyrics – Expression of the theme” was not included in the final total thus affecting the overall score of the participants.”
The St Kitts Carnival Committee then named the 20 Calypsonians, listed below, for the Finals:
