6.2 Earthquake Strikes Near Trinidad, Felt Across the Region

Trinidad and Tobago (WINN)— A 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred just off the coast of Trinidad shortly before midnight on June 22, 2024. According to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC), the earthquake struck at a depth of 46 km, with the epicentre located at a latitude of 10.83N and a longitude of 62.37W.

The tremor was felt in Trinidad. UWI’s social media page commenters reported hearing the earthquake before feeling the shaking in nearby regions, including St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), Guyana, and Grenada.

Authorities are currently assessing the situation. There have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
