Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris made the announcement during the broadcast of ‘Leadership Matters’ on April, 27.
“Cabinet has approved that we shall reduce the quarantine period currently now in place. Our medical experts have recommended that we reduce the quarantined period for the fully vaccinated inbound air travellers to St Kitts and Nevis from 14 days to 9 days effective May 1.”
CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Racquel Brown during her address on the program spoke about the implications this reduction would have on the phased restart of the cruise tourism sector come July.
Dr. Harris also spoke about the other changes to the COVID-19 protocols taking effect between May and July of this year.
“Effective May 20 fully vaccinated spectators can access venues of a mature and recreational sporting events for example football matches, basketball matches, athletics meets, etc. …Fully vaccinated cultural and entertainment events can be favourably considered whereby only fully vaccinated patrons are allowed entrance. This has a recommended start of July 19, 2021.”
Events that include a mix of both vaccinated and non-vaccinated patrons must still adhere to the previously established protocols.
