ABOUT WINN MEDIA SKN
WINN FM 98.9 began operations in St Kitts and Nevis in May 2002. It was created as an independent station, with a mission to offer local , Caribbean and international programming, and to contribute meaningfully to the information, awareness and the development of our nation and the region, through the building of educated and informed communities.
WINN FM is owned and operated by the Federation Media Group, a private company with 50 shareholders, none of whom owns more than 10 percent of the company’s shares. This provision safeguards the company from the dominance of any single shareholder. The station’s objective is to face the issues squarely, without shying away from controversy, while striving continuously to provide balanced , responsible reporting.
After 10 years of operation WINN FM 98.9 has earned a high reputation for fair and accurate reporting and providing easy access for public debate to all citizens/ residents of St Kitts and Nevis, regardless of political persuasion, educational attainment or religious belief. We pride ourselves on being a reliable source of factual, original news content , giving all sides of each story. This stance has led to WINN FM 98.9 and WINNFM.COM being acknowledged today as St Kitts and Nevis leading radio / internet radio station, and an essential, pivotal component in the St Kitts Media landscape, where there is heavy reliance by most other local media on Government-filtered news in the form of press releases for their content.
The ongoing commendation for WINN FM’s full and unbiased coverage and the ever-increasing number of listeners both at home and in the Diaspora are indicative that our voice has value, and that this station continues to make a serious difference. This station also has a great reputation for music and entertainment programmes, and for talk shows. We remain firm in our resolve to employ the strictest principles of honest, fair journalism, as we: (a) safeguard and develop the democratic right of free speech in St Kitts and Nevis, (b) exercise a watchdog role in support of good governance, and (c) represent the voice of the people, willing to tell truth to power. As we strive to remain the station of choice, in St Kitts and Nevis, we will continue to provide our listeners with “More Music, More Talk, More Radio.”
