St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The number of COVID-19 confirmed deaths in St Kitts and Nevis moved from 42 to 43 on Monday, March 28, 2022.

Having gone six consecutive days without any confirmed active COVID-19 cases in the Federation, the COVID-19 report dated Sunday, March 27 showed a change in the information presented on the dashboard; one active case in St.Kitts. However on the following day, Monday, March 28, the report showed no active cases and an additional COVID 19 death.

Dr. Cameron Wilkinson, Medical Chief of Staff at the Joseph N France General Hospital confirmed the death, noting that an elderly female with pre-existing conditions passed away due to COVID-19 complications.

In an interview with WINN Fm on March 23, Wilkinson said, while we in St Kitts and Nevis are beginning to relieve ourselves from the stranglehold that COVID 19 had on every aspect of our lives, and the fourth wave appears to be behind us, the pandemic is not over. He added that, with open borders and the Deltacron, Omicron and their sub variants, which are still circulating globally, we can see positive cases.

The health official reiterated his call for individuals to remain vigilant and continue the use of the non-pharmaceutical measures such as sanitising and the wearing of face masks.

Since March 28, 2020, there have been a total of 5,549 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Federation; the majority being recorded on the island of St Kitts. 5, 506 cases recovered, whilst 43 individuals passed away; 36 in St Kitts and 7 in Nevis.
