Akeem Whyte Charged with Murder Following Traffic Incident

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Akeem Whyte, 33, a resident of Taylor’s Housing, St. Kitts, has been formally charged with the murder of James Morton, 31, from Lower Monkey Hill, St. Peter’s.

 

The charge stems from a traffic incident on June 18, 2024, resulting in Morton’s death the following day (June 19).

 

According to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), the incident occurred on George Street in Newtown, St. Kitts. Initial reports indicate Morton was struck by a vehicle while walking.

 

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported Morton to Joseph N. France General Hospital, where he succumbed to severe head injuries.

 

Whyte was arrested on June 18, 2024, following the incident.

 

Following Morton’s death, Whyte was formally charged with murder on June 21, 2024, at the Basseterre Police Station.
