St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) still intends to complete the Nevis Athletic Stadium popularly known as “Mondo Track”.
This is according to Premier and Minister of Finance the Hon. Mark Brantley.
“We have no plans to have that done this year because the resources aren’t there to have that done this year and so our focus has been on other things….We will get to that when the resources permit.
We have added seating, bathroom facilities and in our view what is most important was the first phase of the project where we laid a first class track for our student athletes and athletes in general and our people because so many people use that facility now for exercise…,” said Premier Brantley while speaking at his February 24 press conference.
According to an article by the NIA’s Department of Information, the project began in mid-December 2016 and was funded by NIA and the Sugar Investment Diversification Fund (SIDF). The second phase of the project will be the construction of the stadium and parking facilities.
The lead contractors for the project are Surrey Paving and Aggregate Co. Ltd. and Lefco Equipment Rentals and Construction Company Ltd. Project Manager is Mr. Timothy Caines.
