(Demerara Waves) – Almost one week after meeting with the main opposition We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) to address representation on two constitutional commissions, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) on Friday said the long-awaited joint statement should be issued later in the day.
“We are back and forth in trying to finalise that statement. I am optimistic that by close of business today, one should be out,” Mr Sherwin Benjamin, General Secretary of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) — the largest APNU partner — briefly told a news conference.
APNU and PNCR leader Aubrey Norton remarked that “there are exchanges between the two on the issue.”
WIN General Secretary Odessa Primus on Wednesday said she was inclined to believe that they would be able to deal with the statement on Thursday.
She believed that WIN and APNU were “very” close to agreeing to a common text of the statement.
