(Barbados Today) Barbadians on Monday celebrated the latest accolade of Prime Minister Mia Mottley who was named by TIME magazine as among the 100 most influential people in the world for 2022.
Mottley features on one of the five world covers and is listed among global leaders that include Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, US President Joe Biden, and Chinese President Xi Jinping, in the 2022 TIME100.
Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of TIME Edward Felsenthal said Prime Minister Mottley was deserving of a spot on the list because “advocates for the planet challenged us too”.
Pointing to a report released in the past year by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that warned the world to change course, Felsenthal also highlighted the impact of Mottley’s speech at the COP26 climate talks in Glasgow last November.
