St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Premier of Nevis Hon. Mark Brantley has revealed figures for the Citizenship By Investment (CBI) Programme which amounts to more than $5 billion dollars covering the period 2007 to 2021.
At a press conference hosted by the Premier on Thursday, March 31, 2022, Brantley who serves as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, gave a detailed statement of the revenues collected which he said was compiled by a team of financial experts.
Here are the figures:
- 2007 – $19.2 million
- 2008 – $48.5 million
- 2009 – $67.1 million
- 2010 – $195.8 million
- 2011 – $321.7 million
- 2012 – $475.5 million
- 2013 – $607.6 million
- 2015 – $503.3 million
- 2016 – $300.1 million
- 2017 – $269.4 million
- 2018 – $417.7 million
- 2019 – $400 million
- 2020 – $270.8 million
- 2021 – $558 million
The total figure, according to Brantley, is $5, 145, 702, 943. St. Kitts got $4, 773, 713, 126. Nevis received $371, 989, 817.
WINN FM contacted the CBI Unit in an effort to verify the figures listed by Brantley but was told that the CBI Unit is not responsible for the calculation of revenues collected for the programme.
Efforts to reach the government’s Financial Secretary were unsuccessful.
According to Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, Nevis has received $400 million since 2015. He said employees of the Nevis Island Administration, and other statutory bodies and corporations, receive their salaries from the federal treasury. Other programs subsidized by the federal treasury include the Peace programme and Poverty Alleviation Programme.
