(BVI News) Kadeem Maynard has now agreed, along with his mother Oleanvine Pickering-Maynard, to accept a plea agreement with prosecutors that sees him avoiding a possible life sentence in prison for charges related to drug and money laundering in the United States.
According to the plea agreement for the younger Maynard seen by BVI News, “the defendant (Kadeem) agrees to plead guilty to Count 1 of the superseding indictment, which charges the defendant with conspiracy to import cocaine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 963 and 952(a).”
Yesterday, June 12, Prosecutors removed charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering and attempted money laundering from the indictment the Maynards faced, and agreed to recommend leniency at sentencing.
The agreement, as was expressed with Kadeem’s mother, hinges greatly on his full cooperation with prosecutors in their case against former premier, Andrew Fahie.
