St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Locally known artist Dylan Byron also known as Byron Messia rose to international fame in less than four months after his release of hit single “Taliban”.
Byron Messia reached atop of Spotify’s ranking as the “Best in New and Current Dancehall” as Taliban has become one of the most streamed musical pieces released thus far for 2023. The song too has had over 20 million views on YouTube since its release.
The impact that “Taliban” has on the global stage is seen through social media postings from DJ’s, musicians, fans on Tiktok, Facebook and other social media platforms. The artist’s credibility heightened even more, having made studio appearances with Burna Boy, Bobby Shmurda, Popcaan and Prince Swanny amongst other artists, with whom he has done live performances.
In recent weeks, the artists toured several places including St. Croix, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Grenada, Florida, New York, London, Guyana and Hollywood where Taliban received significant traction. Byron Messia was featured on a billboard in London and stated in an Instagram post “From a Fort Street Flyer to a U.K Billboard.” He was nominated by the Caribbean Afro Music Awards (CAMA) for the best Dancehall Act and Best Album 2023 and also signed a multi-album deal with Interscope Records.
In addition, Byron Messia is slated for the 25th edition of the St. Kitts Music Festival slated for May 22-24, 2023. His onstage performance is scheduled for Friday, June 23. This is a back to back appearance on the St. Kitts Music Festival stage for Messia, as he was featured in the 2022 hosting of the event.
Byron Messia, a Jamaican born, moved to St. Kitts at two months old and there he grew up. His talent as a dancehall artiste skyrocketed from a local household name to one of international recognition.
