St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) – Seven students participated in the annual St. Kitts Tourism Youth Congress, where one person won the hearts of the judges to become the St. Kitts Junior Minister of Tourism 2023-2024.
The St. Kitts Tourism Youth Congress which was held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on May 12, 2023 featured seven student representatives from the high schools on the island.
The participants included Kaylah Penny – Basseterre High School, Cam-Ron Audain – Washington Archibald High School, Josiah Hodge – Charles E. Mills Secondary School,
D’Jaaden Punrod – Cayon High School, Soriah Williams Powell – Verchilds High School,
Cadeen Allen – Immaculate Conception Catholic School and Destiny Morris – Saddlers Secondary School.
The results of the competition placed Cam-Ron Audain of the Washington Archibald High School as the winner. The judges decision suggested that Audain presented the best ideas for the further development of the island’s Tourism product, amassing a total of 407 points.
Audain is set to represent St. Kitts at this year’s Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Regional Youth Congress slated for October 2023.
The first runner-up position went to D’Jaaden Punrod of Cayon High School with 378 points. Second runner-up (337 points) – Destiny Morris of Saddlers Secondary School and Third runner-up (336 points) – Josiah Hodge of the Charles E. Mills Secondary School.
The students each made presentations highlighting various topics, according to “Kittitian Heartbeat” on its social media platform.
“During the competition discourse, the participating students articulated ideas relevant to building a resilient and sustainable workforce, wellness tourism, and accessibility in tourism through insightful and innovative presentations. In addition, the students were also given a mystery question pertinent to the tourism industry and were allotted one minute to share their recommendations.”
