St. Kitts Nevis (WINN): The Chair of the St. Kitts Nevis National Carnival Committee dispelled rumours that the Committee or the Taskforce have changed its policy on unvaccinated Calypsonians participation in the finals. Hawley confirmed the policy “they’re not vaccinated, and as such, they would not be able to participate in the elimination”.
Rumours were circulating that the Carnival Committee had done a u-turn on its policy regarding vaccinated Calypsonians; however, the Chair confirmed: “it’s not true. It has not changed”.
Hawley said, “I think Freedom reported this on communication with the leader of the All-Star band. However, there was no communication from anybody at the Carnival Committee regarding that change in policy, so it remains the same”.
The misunderstanding came from a local radio talk show involving five or six unvaccinated Calypsonians out of the 30 plus who are scheduled to participate in eliminations.
Hawley told WINN that there was some miscommunication on the talk show from comments made by the leader of the All-Star band about “everyone singing”. The Chair said, “So Freedom reported something that was not verified by myself or anyone at the Committee member or myself or the Taskforce”.
