Carnival Committee changes venue of Talented Teen Pageant to accommodate larger audience

by Eulana Weekes

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) – The St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Talented Teen Pageant appears to be the favourite of all the marquee events on the schedule for  Sugar Mas 51.

Tickets for the Talented Teen Pageant have been sold out for more than ten days before the staging of the event, slated for Tuesday night, December 20, 2022. Interested individuals have been making repeated calls for the St. Kitts- Nevis National Carnival Committee to consider a much bigger venue to accommodate all who are interested.

Despite the venue being changed from The Dome at the St. Kitts Marriot Resort to the Carnival Village, quite a large number of people are still requesting that the Talented Teen Pageant be staged elsewhere due to limited space and tickets.

Kervin “Milobox” Freeman noted on social media, “Dear Carnival Committee, my daughter had a long Christmas list for me. However, it appears that she is more than willing to forego that long list once she gets a ticket for the Talented Teen Show.”

Another social media post read, “Please to move Talented Teen Pageant venue and put it in the Warner Park Stadium where music festival does keep. My poor child over here a panic because tickets sold out, and I promised to buy her one.”

The anticipation for the Talented Teen pageant was high since the virtual launch of the contestants last month. However, anticipation grew even higher when each contestant presented their first live introductory speech at the Opening of Sugar Mas 51 on Friday, December 2, at Carnival Village.

The Talented Teen pageant has not only received local attention but has grasped the attention of people in the diaspora. One such person is a male model and pageant expert from St. Maarten, Mr Learie Hall, who has expressed his pleasure with the opportunity given to the contestants and the general confidence displayed by them. He suggests that his home country emulate SKN and host its own Talented Teen Pageant.

“When can St. Maarten believe and see the importance of pageantry… Look at these TEEN contestants, I repeat, TEEN contestant in St. Kitts fighting for the Talented Teens crown in December. The confidence, poise, smile, beauty and brains you are seeing through these girls. This is educational, this is Cultural, and this is Tourism.”

Eight teens representing eight schools are vying for the 2022-23 St. Kitts-Nevis Talented Teen Title on December 20, 2022.
