St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): On April 02, 2025, thousands of spectators, online and in person, witnessed the young athletes of Nevis in one of the most exciting and competitive Interprimary Track and Field Championships in history.
The top four schools, St. Thomas’ Primary, Joycelyn Liburd Primary, Ivor Walters Primary and Charlestown Primary, went back and forth, with the lead changing several times earlier in the day, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. The tension at the Nevis Athletics Stadium was so high that it must have come down to the wire to determine a clear-cut winner.
Despite a fierce team performance by Ivor Walters Primary, defending champions Charlestown Primary walked away with the championship title, marking its sixth consecutive win. Charlestown Primary School is the first school to achieve such a feat since the championship’s inception three decades ago.
The final medal count standings show Charlestown Primary School (Tigers) with 16 golds, 15 silvers and 16 bronzes.
Ivor Walters Primary School (Mustangs), a close second-place finisher, amassed 16 golds, 11 silvers and 16 bronzes.
St. Thomas’ Primary School (Jaguars) won 10 golds, nine silvers, and eight bronzes to take third place.
A much smaller school, St James Primary (Thunders), also put on a spectacular show, as they, too, came out to win. Registering a team of 18 athletes, the team managed to win nine golds, one silver, and two bronze for a fourth-place finish.
The Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School (Lions) ended the day in fifth place. The school captured six golds, one silver, and one bronze.
Though consistent in placing in the events, the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School (Falcons) settled the day in 6th position, amassing 5 golds, 17 silvers and 15 bronzes.
The Nevis Academy placed 7th with one gold, five silvers and six bronzes.
Maude Cross Preparatory School followed behind in 8th place with one gold, one silver, and three bronzes.
In 9th position, Violet O Jeffers Nichols Primary School won four silvers and four bronzes.
Montessori Academy placed 10th, with no medals on the table.
