St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The 21,600 vaccines, from the COVAX facility, are expected to arrive today April 7 at 1:30 pm at the RLB International Airport.
St. Kitts and Nevis was set to receive the AstraZeneca vaccines on Tuesday, April 6, according to the Pan American Organisation (PAHO) and local officials.
The vaccines were purchased through the global vaccination initiative COVAX, led by the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF, the Vaccine Alliance, and others, and aimed at equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines.
As of Tuesday (April 6), local officials reported that 29.6 percent of the St. Kitts and Nevis population, 9,774 people, received the first dose of the 20,000 COVID-19 vaccines in the country previously donated from India and Dominica.
With the arrival of these doses, another 10,000 people in St. Kitts and Nevis could be inoculated bringing officials two-thirds closer to the 33,000 people needed for population immunity.
