COVID-19 Compliance Team To Boost Law Enforcement

By Clive Bacchus

St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Two new cases of COVID-19 on Nevis is a reminder that people have to do all in their power to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus when the country’s borders reopen.

Police Superintendent Cromwell Henry reports that challenges persist with the compliance of social distancing and the wearing of face masks.

” We are told time after time to begin to practice the habits that will help us to avoid being infected. Social distancing and the wearing of masks continue to be the most difficult ones for or us to adapt.”

Twenty-five people are being trained as Quarantine and Compliance Officers as part of a “Compliance Team” that will aid law enforcement in the days ahead.

“They will monitor and enforce compliance with quarantine rules and conditions, inspect businesses and enterprises to ensure they implement the COVID -19 protocols described by the regulations … and generally, assist law enforcement …” Henry said at a Friday press conference held by the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC).
