St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The COVID-19 Situation report for St Kitts and Nevis is showing a significant spike in cases within the last 24 hours.
The COVID-19 Situation report dated Tuesday (June 28) shows that there were 14 recoveries but 30 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, within the previous 24 hours. The total active cases increased from 87 on Monday June 27 to 103 on Tuesday (June 28). Sixty eight of those active cases have been recorded on St Kitts while 35 are recorded on Nevis.
The total number of confirmed cases in the Federation since March 28 2020 is 6,022. Of this total, 5, 006 cases were recorded on St Kitts, whilst Nevis now surpasses the thousand mark with 1, 016 confirmed cases.
The recovery rates in St Kitts and Nevis have been quite good and health officials believe this is as a result of the high adult vaccination coverage in the Federation, where 78.6 percent of adults are fully vaccinated and 10.5 percent are boosted.
Vaccines are still available and health officials are encouraging individuals who are yet to be vaccinated to do so. Individuals especially with underlying conditions or comorbidities, like diabetes, hypertension, kidney failure, heart disease, asthma, cancer etc, are reminded to take care of their health and continue to adhere to the non-pharmaceutical measures.
