St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Nevis Culturama Festival, “The Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Lime” will be back in full force this year under the theme, “Fete and Celebrate, Nevis Culturama 48.”
Mr. Antonio Abonaty Liburd, Executive Director at the Culturama Secretariatconfirmed that patrons can expect the return of all Culturama major events this year.
“Culturama 48 will be celebrated in its usual style. It is going to be a thirteen-day festival starting from July 21st going right down until August 2nd. Our pre activities will begin as early as June 2nd and we’re gonna have activities going right up until the 20th of July and then we move into the official opening ceremony or the official part of the celebration.”
Liburd confirmed that there has been dialogue between the Secretariat and the COVID-19 Task Force, but the Task Force is yet to approve the Festival.
“It is gonna be a full, in person festival; we have met with the COVID-19 Task Force already and they have given us some guidelines that we must abide by and so, once we’ve made a commitment to the COVID 19 Task Force that we are willing to comply with these, I am expecting that we will be given the greenlight; we have not yet been given the greenlight, but we are expecting that we’ll be given the greenlight to have a full-scale festival; but in the meantime, the Culturama Committee is planning to have a full thirteen-day celebration, which will include our street activities as well.”
The Culturama Director said patrons can expect the return of the long anticipated Jouvert Jump Up, Street Parade, Food Fair, Calypso Show, Soca Monarch Show, The Junior Calypso Show, Mr and Miss Talented Youth Pageant, Mr. Kool and Miss Swimwear Pageant, Miss Culture Pageant, as well as Wet Fete.
