Over the past 49 years, many monumental pageants were held in Nevis to celebrate the island’s main festival.

Lucina Wade was crowned as the first Miss Culture Queen in 1978. Most recently, on July 31, 2022, Chalisa Parris was crowned as Miss Culture Queen; however, she relinquished her reign on September 30 in an official notice to the Culturama Secretariat. A new Ms Culture queen, Shamarley Newton, was crowned on October 17, 2022.

Meanwhile, about 13 years ago, on July 27, 2010, Miss Alsanarda Hanley was crowned the first-ever Miss Culture Swimwear Queen. At the most recent staging of the event, July 26, 2022, Ms Sherquanya Jeffers copped the title.

This year’s slogan for the festival is “49 Years of Mas and Spree, Culturama 2023!”
