St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Dequan Dore of Carty Alley, Newtown pleaded guilty to the charges of Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition during a case heard before Chief Magistrate His Honour Renold Benjamin on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
The court matter ended with the defendant walking away from the Magistrate court a free man due to time served in prison; three years and six months.
Dore was represented by Attorney at Law Jason Hamilton.
In October 2020, Dore was arrested and charged for the offenses of Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. Detective Constable Detroit Henry apprehended the suspect following a search that had been executed on a premises in Carty Alley by the Anti-narcotics Unit. One Glock 19 firearm with a matching magazine and four 9mm rounds of ammunition were seized during the operation.
The Royal St.Christopher and Nevis Police Force continue to maximise its effort to remove illegal firearms from the streets. So far for 2023, four (4) firearms have been seized, while in the year 2022, a total of seventeen (17) firearms were taken off the streets of the Federation.
