St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): St Kitts and Nevis has recorded its 44th COVID-19 related death. Dr. Cameron Wilkinson, Medical Chief of Staff at the Joseph N France General Hospital confirmed on Saturday morning (July 9) that an elderly unvaccinated woman passed away within the previous 24 hours.

Wilkinson stated, ” This drives home the point that COVID-19 is still out there; that it is still a threat and we need to give ourselves the best protection by being vaccinated.”

The St Kitts and Nevis COVID-19 Situation Report dated Friday, July 8 2022 at 6 pm shows that there is an additional COVID death on St Kitts, bringing the total to 37.

At current, there are 163 active cases in the country, 27 of which were recorded in the previous 24 hours. According to Wilkinson in a previous conversation with WINN FM, “the COVID-19 recoveries over the past few months have been tremendous.” Within the last 24 hours, 50 recoveries were recorded.

The total number of confirmed cases in St Kitts and Nevis is 6,293 and 6,086 of those cases have been recovered.

In March 2022, the COVID-19 Task Force hosted its Farewell Press Briefing, where citizens and residents were encouraged to practise personal responsibility and vigilance. Individuals were also warned that COVID-19 still exists and would be around for some time.
