St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): A drought warning has been issued for St Kitts.
The Caribbean Climate Outlook Forum (CARICOF) and the Caribbean Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) have recommended a drought warning be issued for St Kitts and Antigua.
CARICOF urged both countries to:
Conserve and recycle water
Implement water management plans
Release public service announcements
Last minute infrastructural repairs and upgrades
In a release issued on May 22, the Water Services Department advised that St Kitts was in the midst of a severe dry season.
Rainfall for the period January to April 2021 was approximately 6 inches, which is half the amount for the same period in 2020.
