St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Early Childhood Facilities are slated to resume operations Wednesday, July 14 with additional COVID-19 protocols.
Ms. Kimona Brown, Director of the Early Childhood Unit during a meeting with early childhood educators and care facilitators on July 12, was quoted as saying “All Early Childhood Development centre staff are to utilize face shields in addition to masks to minimize exposure to respiratory droplets that can result during daily care and education of children. Finally, all staff are to utilize aprons when working, to further protect their personal health and wellness.”
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mr. William Vincent Hodge addressed the need for the early childhood sector to be operational as parents and guardians head back out to work.
According to a release from the Ministry of Education, Hodge stated that, “We are hoping that there will be much compliance because we understand that we have to try to keep the virus at bay, out of any [of] our preschools because once the virus gets into our preschools, then it means that [the] centre/ preschool will have to close.”
The Early Childhood Unit is responsible for monitoring the centres for protocol implementation and compliance.
The Ministry of Education will provide assistance in these efforts by donating face shields to the Early Childhood centres.
