St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): President of the St John’s Community Improvement Club (SJCIC), Mr. Alstead Pemberton says he anticipates that the annual Kite Flying Competition, will be the most looked forward to event on Good Friday, April 15 2022, just as the past 32 years.
On Wednesday morning, April 13, Mr. Asltead Pemberton shared with WINN FM the details of the Kite Flying Competition.
“At the Kite Flying [competition], we have different categories of kites. We have the biggest kite, the most creative kite, the best designed kite, the best flying kite and the best book leaf kite, because we want to include the children as well; so we include the book leaf kite specifically for the children.”
According to the SJCIC President, persons can win first, second and third place cash prizes; EC $700, EC $500, and EC $150 respectively.
Additionally, Pemberton said, traditional Easter foods will be on sale, as vendors will be selling the likes of konkhi, johnnycake and saltfish, cassava bread and all the goodies for Good Friday.
Pemberton indicated that a bouncing castle, Domino competition and music will make up the entertainment aspect of the event; suggesting that the event is a family affair; so the whole of Nevis should attend.
The event will be held at The Flats in Cole Hill, Nevis, commencing at 1 pm on Good Friday, with registration of kites set for 12 pm. The registration fee is EC $5.00.
Mr. Pemberton used the opportunity to thank the major sponsors, the Nevis Tourism Authority, the Ministry of Education and a private company, Auto Plus, as well as, individual sponsors for their kind donations. He however disclosed that the St John’s Community Improvement Club is still accepting sponsorships, as additional donations will help to increase prizes. Pemberton, therefore, made an appeal to interested sponsors to contact him at 762 6598 to make arrangements.
