(Jamaica Observer) Kingstown, Jamaica— Five-time Olympic Games gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah will be coached by Reynaldo Walcott of Elite Performance Track Club following her separation from coach Shanikie Osbourne earlier this month.
The announcement was made by Thompson-Herah’s management team, Andi Sports Management on Monday.
Walcott is also the coach of Jamaican sprint queen Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, hurdlers Rasheed Broadbell and Rushell Clayton among others.
It is reported that a breakdown in negotiations between Thompson-Herah’s team and Osbourne was the reason for the split.
It is said that Osbourne had requested an “extremely excessive” remuneration package to continue as coach for Thompson-Herah.
This request was not met and Osbourne’s contract was terminated.
