St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) — The elderly man who was found badly beaten in his Saddler’s home on Monday, January 18, 2021, has been identified as 68-year-old James Pinney, a family source told WINN on Tuesday morning (February 02).

Pinney, who will be celebrating his 69th birthday next week, was viciously attacked by an unknown assailant in the wee hours of Monday, January 18.

The distraught family source said, “it was 2:30 a.m. Monday morning when he was in his house when he was awakened by a noise…he was still lying in bed and when he looked up, a man was over him and just started chopping…”.

A photograph that made its rounds on social media showed Pinney on a hospital bed with a black eye, swollen jaw, and wound on his head, however, WINN understands that Pinney was discharged from the hospital and is recovering steadily.

The family source claims that the motive was a robbery as Pinney was at a bar the night before where he purchased a number of drinks.

WINN made contact with the Police who said they are still investigating the matter.
