St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Old Road Rehabilitation Project, now six months overdue is said to be almost 60 percent complete.

A site visit revealed that the $32 million road construction aspect of the project was indeed halfway there.

Concrete was poured along half the length of the roadwork and that’s to be covered with asphalt later.

The project began in March 2019 and was scheduled for completion in 12 months.

The impact of COVID-19 on securing materials at the local quarry is one of the factors blamed for the delay.

Old Road Bay is also prone to rock falls especially during the peak period of the Atlantic Hurricane Season-the months of August, September, and October.

In August, a boulder struck a passenger bus by the name of ‘Trumpet’ in Old Road Bay on Friday (August 21); Anandee Collins Richards, known in calypso and soca circles as Lil Miss Attitude was a passenger in the bus when the boulder fell from the cliff, smashing into the front passenger window, leaving her and the driver injured.
