St. Kitts-Nevis (WINN) – No injuries sustained from what is being described as a fire caused by a ‘grease explosion’ that occurred in a restaurant on Cayon Street near the Basseterre Police station Tuesday night (Jan. 12), according to Fire Chief Everette O’Garro.

St. Kitts Fire and Rescue received reports of a fire and responded at around 9:30 p.m.

O’Garro, said the fire was fortunately contained in the kitchen of the restaurant reducing the possible damage the fire could have caused.

During the night of Tuesday (Jan. 12), a video surfaced on social media depicting what seemed to be a fire several feet away from the Basseterre Police Station, near the Cayon Street and Wellington road roundabout.
