St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) – In a three-minute video, the St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Queen Pageant contestants were revealed at the Great House on Belle Mont Farm at Kittitian Hill.
With about three months to go before the queen is crown, your contestants are Sasha Herbert, Saskia Evans, Harsha Parmanand, Nekirah Nicholls and Kahnein Blanchette.
During the reveal of the ladies last night (September 15) streamed on the St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee’s social media pages, we got to hear a bit from the contestants and the journey so far.
“The experience has been going, just as I expected. It has been fun even more fun. The girls, the sisterhood we have created already, it has been heartwarming to experience this journey with them. Preparations [are] going as good as the pandemic would allow her, so that’s going well as well. But all in all, I love the journey already. I can’t wait for the next three months. I can’t wait to showcase my talent on stage. It’s everything I expected to be and more,” shared contestant #1 Sasha Herbert.
“My experience has been going great as well so far. I have met some of the beautiful ladies we’re getting along well so far, and I am so grateful to be a part of this journey; and I am excited to see what’s in store for the next three months,” contestant #2, Saskia Evans.
“My preparation has been going as planned. I [am] really enjoying the experience so far. And I would like to see all these queens right here, they’re amazing, and I love their [personalities]. I’m hoping that my preparations will be [ongoing], so I can able to execute what I plan for the night of the show, and also enjoy the journey,” contestant #3, Harsha Parmanand.
“As the other ladies already stated, the journey has been quite fun, especially with all the other girls, but a bit challenging, as it relates to the pandemic and all the uncertainties that we have to encounter along the journey. But what I really find as a challenge is probably the restrictions as it comes to food. I really miss eating all the different kinds of food, and that’s just me being absolutely honest, but so far, the journey has been really fun. I’m looking forward to a show-night. I know it’s [going to] be amazing, and we’re [going to] bring a good show for you guys,” contestant #4, Nekirah Nicholls.
“For me, preparation would have been going well; you guys are seeing us here in September but what you guys don’t know is that this has been an all-year thing. We have been preparing all year from the moment we were chosen. And so, as Nekirah would have said, we have met up on a lot of restrictions, lifestyle changes and all of that. However, it is going well as far as the pandemic can allow us. I am grateful to meet each other for young ladies I know a few prior, but we have started bonding; we have built a sisterhood already, and I’m looking forward to not only the night of the show but also where after the show can take us,” contestant #5, Kahnein Blanchette.
Chair of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee, Shannon Hawley, gave a snapshot of some plans for the pageant in December.
“We more than likely would do a segment or two of the competition pre-recorded. So what you would see in Miss Universe, Miss World, where it’s pre-recorded and pre-judged. Again taken into consideration the pandemic, we want to shorten the timeframe for the final show, which we are hoping to have the live viewing audience but again taking some of the segments from that live show and move them into that pre-recorded pre-judge; so we hope that we will be able to do that, the committee is working on that [just] to bring something different and something unique,” shared Hawley.
