St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Department of Gender Affairs- Nevis, in commemoration of International Day of the Boy Child, recognised one boy at each of the Primary and Secondary Schools on the island.
The Boy of Excellence Award was presented to Julio Gonzalez- Maude Crosse Preparatory School, Abhijith Srinivasan- Montessori Academy, Hildreth Tross- Cecele Browne Integrated School, Kamron Forbes- Charlestown Primary School, Dejaun Phillip-Violet O. Jeffers Nicholls Primary School, Nahum Polius- St.Thomas’ Primary School, Zhyaire Jeffers- Ivor Walters Primary School, Ayden Gajor- St.James Primary School, Kiyan Blake- Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School, Zuri Wade- Nevis Academy, Nyanjay Liburd- Joycelyn Liburd Primary School, N’ Kosanae “Prince Hanley- Charlestown Secondary School, Mayur Daswani- Nevis International Secondary School and Jordon Liburd- Gingerland Secondary School.
According to a representative from the Department of Gender Affairs- Nevis, the boys were recognised for their positive contributions to their schools and society, including but not limited to good behaviour, leadership roles, academic excellence, sports excellence etc.
The awards were presented throughout the week of Monday, May 15, to Friday, May 19, 2023. Influential males across the island presented the awards.
International Day of the Boy Child is held annually on May 16. The global theme this year is “Boys and Mental Health”.
Minister of Gender Affairs in the Nevis Island Administration, Hon Jahnel Nisbett, encouraged parents, teachers and others in the society to “give our boys ample love, support and understanding.”
