St.Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Dr. Cameron Wilkinson is in agreement with Dr. Fauci on the idea that we will not eradicate Covid 19; but once the virus is controlled and the variants are weakened, people will learn to live with it, as it becomes endemic.

Considering that Omicron has proven to be less severe than all other variants, Wilkinson is hopeful that it becomes the endemic variant.

Speaking on the most recent episode of Straight Talk with Ian Patches Liburd,  Dr. Wilkinson declared that everyone will develop some sort of immunity to the virus.

“There will come a point in time when everyone will have some degree of immunity, either through vaccinations or through repeated infections for those who choose not to be vaccinated; such that it will peter out to a disease that is not a significant threat to our health; and we can continue to live with it, without any deleterious effect; and so, I don’t foresee the virus disappearing.”

In addition, Dr. Wilkinson said though Omicron is less severe, it is more transmissible and can affect both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.  He revealed however that, symptoms will be very mild, if not symptomatic and the recovery is much quicker. As a means of protection, he urged individuals to become vaccinated.
