St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The government has approved a number of duty concessions on food, gift packages, and passenger allowances for the entire month of December.

Gift packages of foodstuff up to 400 pounds in weight will be allowed free of duty and taxes, and travelers and non-commercial importers will receive a duty-free allowance of EC$540 or US$200 off the Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) value of goods, according to a press release from the St. Kitts Nevis Information Service.

The decision was made after consultations between the Ministry of Finance and the Customs and Excise Department.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. Timothy Harris reportedly stated that the measures will further stimulate economic activity in the Federation, and at the same time ease the financial burden of consumers.

The announced duty-free concessions for the month of December are in addition to the approved Discounted VAT Rate Days on 18 and 19 December 2020.
