(Now Grenada) – The Government of Grenada has successfully concluded its participation in the 4th Cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, presenting its national outcome report and reaffirming its unwavering commitment to human rights, democratic governance, and sustainable development.
Led by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development, Grenada’s delegation engaged constructively with Member States and UN bodies, outlining progress made in implementing previous recommendations and treaty obligations, while emphasising its continued efforts to strengthen institutional frameworks and protect vulnerable populations. The report highlighted key reforms in justice, education, gender equality, and climate resilience.
During this cycle, Grenada received 171 recommendations and, following inclusive national consultations facilitated through the National Mechanism for Implementation, Reporting and Follow-up (NMIRF), formally accepted 103. These accepted recommendations now form the foundation of Grenada’s reform agenda and reflect broad national ownership and legitimacy.
