(Trinidad Express) – Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has dismissed “haters” claims that the audio on TV during calypsonian Helon Francis’ performance was intentionally cut.

She also celebrated the victory of “Calypso Queen” Terri Lyons yesterday.

Persad-Bissessar said in a release she learnt of the issue yesterday morning and pointed out that State-owned TTT issued a statement informing that there was a technical problem during Francis’ performance at the Dimanche Gras competition on Sunday.

“Sorry to break this news to my loving and dedicated haters but no one has to censor calypso because over the years, political stooges masquerading as calypsonians censored calypso themselves by alienating the majority of the population with their hateful diatribes,” said Persad-Bissessar.

The Prime Minister pointed out that soca fetes were sold out by the thousands every day from January to Carnival Tuesday “but a calypso tent can’t even sell 100 tickets on its best night”.
