Law enforcement shares list of damaged items in May 6 container fire

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Law enforcement officials have provided an update on the Fire that occurred between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. at Needsmust on May 6, 2023.

According to the police, Rudolph John of Needsmust reported being awakened by a loud ‘boom’ outside his home. He found a sizeable blaze engulfing a shipping container owned by Kurt Richards of Bird Rock Extension.

John alerted the authorities, and the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services responded, extinguishing the flame.

After an assessment of the damage, it was found that the items stored in the forty-footer shipping container were destroyed. They include three motorbikes, one four-wheeler,  three Mercury 300 engines, spare parts, and assorted furniture. Also destroyed were a mobile home and a cigarette speedboat.

A BMW Wrecker truck was parked near the shed and was partly damaged by the fire. A dollar value of the damaged items was not provided.

Investigations into the situation are ongoing.
