St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Soca artist, songwriter, vocalist for Grand Masters and radio personality, Rucas HE gifted WINN on Wednesday (September 2) with the first premier of his newest single ‘Live A Little’ on ‘Island Tea, hosted by Kevon Hanley and Amalie Armony.
The 2019 Groovy Monarch launched his solo career in 2015 winning his first crown in 2016 with the second and third in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

The song features former U.S Virgin Islands Soca Monarch out of St. Croix Adam O who with Rucas and Collin Wyatt wrote the lyrics. The song was produced by Rainman out of the U.S Virgin Islands, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Masa Blue’s Country Kitchen Studio in Nevis with video animations by Stylejerk Creates.

In July 2020, Rucas was also featured on the “VP Records” Soca Gold 2020 Album that came out July 31, 2020, with his song “Freaky Gyal” which was done in collaboration with “Menace XL” an artist out of Antigua. During the show he reminisced about his father buying past Soca Gold albums and now being a part of the 2020 iteration considers it a great achievement in his musical career.

Rucas is trying to continue his collaborative efforts and teased a regional collaborative project featuring other soca monarchs in the region, an EP called Kings of Kings.

“I think it would have been in either 2017 or 18 we… me and my team, we have decided to do a project that we call Kings of Kings and we try to collaborate with different artists around the region… soca monarch winners as well… it’s not something we’ll do in a year but we are trying to put them together over time… The end goal of that is that we want to try and put an EP together with all these tracks… and we are calling it Kings of Kings… We are about four or five songs in that project right now… I am aiming for at least seven and as I said we are now up to five so I guess we just need to do two more.”

So far the project features artists Delly Ranks from Nevis, Menace XL out of Antigua, and King Rumer in St. Maarten with Adam O from St. Croix as the newest addition.

This collaborative effort echoes a sentiment Rucas shared; bringing islands together through the power of music.

Continuing on about future projects, Rucas mentioned that he was invited to the Small Island Soca Cruise slated for November 2021 and focuses on artists from smaller islands such as St Kitts and Nevis, the U.S Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, and Antigua.
The music video is available for viewing on YouTube and the song is available on all streaming platforms.
