(Press release) Following the success of their first ‘Maximising Maths’ webinar campaign in September, which explored how key mathematical skills can help pupils learn and love maths, Macmillan Education Caribbean is has announced the second installment of the webinar series taking place in January 2023.

Running from Monday 16th to Thursday 19th January, the second part of the Maximising Maths series will equip teachers with a comprehensive knowledge of four key areas of mathematics: counting, calculation, algebra and geometry and measurement.

Maths experts Dr. Tony Cotton and Andrew Jeffrey will explore practical approaches to teaching mathematics as well as common misconceptions and how to overcome them. The series will support pupils on their journey to becoming curious and confident mathematicians.

The webinars will run over four consecutive days and will be available on-demand in the following weeks. Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance for each webinar attended, as well as an additional certificate for attending all four sessions over the week.

Maximising Maths will also be accompanied by a range of in-person primary maths workshops led by authors of Macmillan Education’s new primary maths series, Max Maths – Making Real World Connections.

The first of the workshops will be run by author of Grades K, 1, and 2, Josh Lury. These will take place on the 12th and 13th January in St. Kitts and Nevis and on the 16th and 17th January in Dominica.

Steph King, author of Grades 3 and 4 will also be running a series of workshops on the 30th and 31st January in Grenada and the 2nd and 3rd February in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

These events come as Macmillan Education Caribbean begin their seventieth anniversary celebrations. A variety of online and in-person events and activities will be taking place throughout 2023, and teachers, schools and parents across the Caribbean are encouraged to take part where possible.
