St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) – A male patient admitted to the Psychiatric Ward of the Joseph N. France General Hospital has committed suicide, according to a release from the Ministry of Health.
The release stated that the patient committed suicide at about 3:30 am on Thursday, October 27.
Reports suggest that the male patient is Psychiatric Prisoner Jahdell Browne.
Browne was charged with the murders of John Napier (then 75) and Sylvester Harris (then 37) and also the wounding of Wilfred Simmonds (then 52) on Sunday, October 25, 2009.
Browne attacked Napier on his premises in Cedar Grove; Harris was assaulted in his garden at Parray’s Housing, Upper Monkey Hill and Simmonds was wounded in the vicinity of Parray’s Housing, Upper Monkey Hill.
In the police report concerning the murders, Browne was referred to as “mentally challenged”.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, the staff at the Ministry of Health and the Joseph N. France General Hospital expressed their condolences and support to the family and loved ones of the deceased patient.
The family of the patient has been informed of the incident.
The Joseph N. France General Hospital will investigate the incident and share the findings with the family.
