St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Media Association of St. Kitts and Nevis is hosting an Economic and Financial Reporting Virtual Workshop with facilitator Mr. Kevin Hope, an economist and business consultant.
The workshop is every Thursday at 6:30p.m. beginning September 22, 2022.
Mr. Andre Huie, President of the Media Association of St. Kitts and Nevis, spoke about the importance of the workshop.
“We are launching an economic and financial reporting workshop for our members and it’s open to other media workers in the eastern Caribbean. We’ve met with Mr. Hope and he has offered to assist us in this regard for the next four weeks starting tomorrow [Sept. 22].
The idea behind this is that economic and financial reporting can be difficult because if you’re not an economist or an accountant, you may not be familiar with certain terminologies and understanding financial issues so we wanted to sharpen our media workers to understand the basic of economics and financial reporting and that would give us a better opportunity when reporting on issues of the economy. This workshop would train us to better understand matters surrounding the economy.”
Mr. Huie was speaking on WINN FM’s ‘Voices’ talk show on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, as part of the association’s media tour.
The Media Association of St. Kitts and Nevis was revived in April 2022. The other executive members are Mr. Glen Bart as first vice president; Mr. Jermine Abel, second vice president; Ms. Jamiella McPhail, director of communications; Ms. Natasha Morris, general secretary; Ms. Sharon Richards as assistant secretary; and Mr. Devin Richardson as treasurer.
