St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Men on St Kitts will have an opportunity to engage health officials on St Kitts at the Men’s Health Forum 101 on Thursday evening June 16 at the Antioch Baptist Church.
The aim of the forum is to discuss early signs/detection, preventative measures, and solutions and also to share stories that will challenge ones thinking of life and health, said the hosts, Mr. Delwayne Delaney, to WINN FM.
Featuring on the panel will be two general practitioners, Dr. Dwayne Archibald and Dr. Duriel Pemberton and also a dentist, Dr. Randy Liburd. Some of the health issues that are likely to be discussed are Hypertension, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Kidney Disease, Cancer as well as Dental care.
Free screenings will be available, including Prostate and chest examinations, blood sugar, blood pressure and Kidney checks. According to Delaney Lab technologists will be present to conduct Prostate Specific- Antigen tests or PSA. The PSA test is a blood test used primarily to screen for prostate cancer. The test measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the blood. PSA is a protein produced by both cancerous and noncancerous tissues in the prostate, a small gland that sits below the bladder in males.
Delaney is imploring men over the age of 30 to attend the screening and forum. He suggests that women support and encourage men to be a part of the initiative. Women too will have an opportunity to be screened. The screening is expected to commence at 4:30 pm and will continue up until 7:30 pm when the discussion begins.
