St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Global Entrepreneurship Week is celebrated annually during the third week of November, and the Ministry of Entrepreneurship et al. in the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has organised a week of activities to celebrate entrepreneurs and their work.
The marquee events for the week of activities are a “Cannabiz Panel Discussion” and a Press Conference featuring the Hon Samal Duggins – Minister with responsibility for Entrepreneurship and Small Businesses, on Wednesday, November 14, as well as a “Business Expo” slated for Friday, November 18.
Mr. Delwayne Delaney, Senior Business Advisor at the Small Business Development Centre, shared with WINN FM a brief synopsis of the marquee events.
“The press statement by the Minister Hon. Samal Duggins is due to go live at 9 am (November 16). We will have the media to field any necessary questions or possible questions and he will be outlining some of the initiatives for the remainder of 2022 and the plans for 2023 as it relates to small businesses, where we can foster more of the development and growth for the sector.”
“As it relates to the [Small Business] Expo, we have a number of businesses ranging from services and products, the art industry, the health and wellness industry, food and beverage, you name it. It’s a wide array of businesses that will be on display on Friday next week. We are inviting the general to patronise the small businesses as well as to be a part of the culmination of the week of celebrating entrepreneurs.”
According to Delaney, the Small Business Expo will attract about 30 registered entrepreneurs who will be marketing and selling their products. The event will be held in the Independence Square in Basseterre on Friday, November 18, from Midday to 7:00 pm. There will be food and live entertainment.
Meanwhile, Patrice Harris will host a Cannabiz Panel Discussion at ZIZ on Wednesday night (November 16) to include panellists Attorney General – Hon. Garth Wilkin, Dr Garfield Alexander, Mr Stuart Laplace from the Bureau of Standards, Loctician- Lynvi “Binghi Natts” Burnham, Everton “Blenda” Delaney – Social Media Personality and Ras Iya- Legalisation of Cannabis Advocate. Delwayne Delaney said the panellists are expected to spark thought-provoking conversations.
The other events listed for the Global Entrepreneurship Week of Activities include a speech by the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Small Businesses, Hon. Samal Duggins on Monday, November 14, “Yute in Business” on Tuesday, November 15, which is an initiative where officials from the Small Business Development Centre accompany Hon Samal Duggins to visit young entrepreneurs operating businesses in the Basseterre District and on Thursday, November 17, Agri-Business will be hosted at the Agri Conference Centre.
