St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Ministry of Health reported an additional 31 cases of COVID-19 in the federation with 18 cases for St. Kitts and 13 for Nevis.
Following the revelation of the positive cases on Saturday, August 21, Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley took to Facebook to urge citizens and residents to adhere to the established COVID-19 protocols.
“Our island is in the midst of a COVID crisis and I am therefore again appealing to our people to act responsibly. I am appealing to you to wear your mask, wash your hands frequently, to avoid crowds and above all I am appealing to you to go out and get vaccinated.”
COVID-19 cases are on the rise as health officials suspect that the delta variant may be the new strain in circulation in the federation. Since March 2020, a total of 823 people have tested positive for the virus with 604 recovering and three reportedly dying. Of the 823, health officials identified 758 on St. Kitts and 65 for Nevis. Active cases now stand at 216.
