More than 500 homes built since 2015, Housing Minister says

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The television series ‘Leadership Matters’ hosted by Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris resumed on Tuesday night, February 15 with one of the guest appearances being Minister of Human Settlement, the Hon. Eugene Hamilton.

Minister Hamilton focused his presentation on Housing which is a subset of the Ministry of Human Settlement.

According to Minister Hamilton, since the Team Unity Government took office in 2015, a total of 504 houses have been built in St. Kitts, spearheaded by the National Housing Corporation. 

“In constituency number one, we have delivered 50. In constituency number two, we have delivered 73. In constituency number three, we have delivered 35. In constituency number four, we have delivered 75. In constituency number five, we have delivered 59. In constituency number six, we have delivered 21. In constituency number seven, we have delivered 65 and in my own constituency, constituency number eight, we have delivered 126.”

Minister Hamilton described the construction of these homes as a significant achievement despite the economic hardships experienced in early 2020. 

A total of 15 Petro Casas homes will be distributed on Friday, February 18 in a housing ceremony. Other housing developments on St. Kitts include the 24 units at Wellington Road and Liamuiga Housing Development being constructed by Real Estate Developer Deon Daniel. 

Tuesday night’s ‘Leadership Matters’ was moderated by Ms. Jaqueline Byran and featured remarks by Prime Minister Harris and Attorney General the Hon. Vincent Byron Jr.
