St Kitts and Nevis (WINN):Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley is making a strong pitch for reparations for the Caribbean.
In an interview with Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, the Barbadian leader insisted that the under development of Africa and the Caribbean can be traced back directly to the colonial actions of the British.
Mottley suggested that Britain and other European countries who were involved in the transatlantic slave trade owe the region reparations.
Prime Minister Mottley has explained that the Caribbean is not just saying that moneys need to be paid and a specific sum be put forward, when it makes the case for reparations.
According to the Barbadian leader, the English Speaking Caribbean is perhaps one of the most highly indebted regions of the world.
She told Good Morning Britain that the COVID-19 pandemic has made bad matters worse.
She said to that it has become exceptionally difficult for a lot of these countries to be able to raise money on their own.
