St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Right Excellent Dr. Sir Simeon Daniel was honoured on Saturday, February 19 when his family and former colleagues and members of the Nevisian public gathered for the grand opening of a museum which would tell of his life, work and legacy.
According to a press release from the museum, “the facility is part of a new design that provides engagement and innovation for the public. During the development of the project, careful attention and thought went into creating a range of contents that invite visitors to engage meaningfully with the history and story of Sir Simeon Daniel.”
An overview of the museum was given by Ms. Thouvia France. She said “we were keen to ensure that we employ the best technologies available to deliver a seamless and impressive user experience. The space has been outfitted with a range of ambient display digital screens, including four standing stations around the central statue, and multiple seating areas with interactive digital screens. The museum is also supported by a robust server and central networking infrastructure that powers all digital content within the museum for dynamic content delivery and updates.”
Sir Simeon, the first Premier of Nevis, is seen as one of the political stalwarts on Nevis. His son, Deon Daniel, daughters – Claire Jones, Susan Clarke, Janice Daniel-Hodge, Ingrid Daniel-Farrell – and other family members, are pleased with the ultra modern museum that is befitting to reveal the story about the life and times of an icon.

Cutting of the ribbon was done by his daughters followed by a tour of the museum.
The opening ceremony for the Right Excellent Dr. Sir Simeon Daniel Museum was chaired by Mr. Rohan Isles and saw remarks by his grandchildren Ms. Deonicia Daniel and Mr. Javorn Daniel Farrell. Pastor Davidson Morton delivered the invocation and the National Anthem was beautifully rendered by Ms. Jahniyah Daniel.
Senior government officials of the Federal Cabinet and the Nevis Island Administration also attended the grand opening including the Hon. Vincent Byron Jr., Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs; Minister of Human Settlement the Hon. Eugene Hamilton as well as former Premiers of Nevis Mr. Joseph Parry and Ambassador Vance Amory.
