St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): We are almost in the last quarter of 2021 and on our way to the carnival season and ‘on the road’ to Sugar Mas 50.
Chair of the Carnival Committee, Shannon Hawley, announced that the five contestants for the National Carnival Queen Pageant would be revealed at 9 p.m. on September 15.
“So we really, really excited for the reveal of the National Carnival Queen contestants, tonight at 9 p.m… and then, of course, tomorrow, which is our National Heroe’s Holiday, we’ll be revealing the contestants for the Swimsuit Competition. So for the next two days, the public will get an idea, they’ll get a feel, they’ll be able to say yes that’s the one, yes that’s my girl and follow these contestants on the road to Sugar Mas 50 so we really, really looking forward to this next one.”
Hawley made those remarks during The Morning Show with G Cue on ZIZ.
What will Sugar Mas 50 look like this year?
Like 2020, Sugar Mas 50 will be a virtual experience given the ongoing COVID-19 situation, but Hawley said they will build on the experience from last year.
“The hope is to build on that virtual experience but it is also our hope to be able to have a live audience, for the shows and that is something that we’re working out and we have to work with both the [COVID-19] Task Force and the Royal St. Kitts and Nevis Police Force… we think we have the opportunity to social distance for a pageant, there’s no mixing and mingling … It’s a whole different atmosphere and we think that once we find a venue that is suitable enough to accommodate individuals who are socially distance, then we will make that presentation and continue negotiations with the task force.”
Hawley said no date for both pageants would be released right now because they wanted to focus on the contestants on their journey to the Sugar Mas 50.
