St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Nevis commissions a new building for its “Yes to Success” (YTS) skills training, counseling, and job search program organized by the Nevis Island Administration, the US Agency for International Development(USAID) and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States(OECS).

The building was commissioned at Pinney’s Estate Monday. The YTS now offers three-four month training with options of pottery -making, heavy equipment operation, and a digital jobs training program from October to January 2021.
Minister of Social Development Mr. Eric Evelyn in brief remarks said YTS (established in 2015) had touched the lives of over 70 youth.

YTS targets young people who may not have completed school with high academic qualification but have the potential to be productive people, young people in need of a second chances or who may have had small offenses in court, according to the Director of Department of Social Services Ms. Sandra Maynard.

She also explained that youths who apply are subject to risk assessment, and once accepted, are engaged in personal development sessions. They then undergo weeks of skills training and are placed in work internships for practical application of what they have learned.
