St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Since the May 19 outbreak of coronavirus disease in the Federation, the Public Health Team on Nevis has tested a total of 708 people on the island with one test returning positive which pushed the island’s confirmed cases to 15.
That information was provided by the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Mark Brantley on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, in a Facebook post.
“707 have come back negative and one positive. The one positive has now fully recovered,” said Brantley who also serves as the island’s Senior Minister of Health.
“I am advised that number 15 was not vaccinated,” Brantley revealed at his June 29 press conference.
WINN understands that 40 people were contacts of case number 15. The majority of the contacts had been fully vaccinated and were required to conduct a Covid-19 test instead of a 14 day quarantine period.
As of June 28, 2021, the number of people receiving a first dose of the vaccine in Nevis stood at 5,166 and 3,893 for those receiving both first and second doses. The target population for the island is 8,594.
